૧૪ ફેબૃઆરી ૨૦૧૦ ના રવીવાર ના રોજ મોટાભાગ ની વ્યક્તિઓં એ પ્રેમ ના આ પર્વ ને ઉજવ્યો. અમુક લોકોએ એમની લાગણીઓને ફુલ કે કાર્ડ દ્વારા રજુ કરી ત્યારે અમુક લોકો એ એકબીજા પ્રત્યે ની લાગણીને ઉજવી.


ઓશો રજનીશ કહે છે કે પ્રેમ એકજ એવી અનુભૂતિ છે જે Artificial કદી લાવી જ ન શકાય. કોઈ પર અમથે અમથો ગુસ્સો થાય પણ પ્રેમ અમથે અમથો ના થાય. પ્રેમ થાય તો થાય ને નો થાય તો નો થાય. પ્રેમ પર કોઈ શરતો લાગુ ના પાડી શકાય. I Love You પર નાની ફુદરડી મૂકી ને નીચે ઝીણા અક્ષરોમાં Conditions Apply ના લખી શકાય. એવીજ રીતે પ્રેમ ને કોઈ બિઝનેશ ની જેમ અગાઉ થી પ્લાન પણ ના કરી શકાય. પ્રેમ થાય તો થાય ને નો થાય તો નો થાય.


ઈશ્વરનો પૃથ્વી પ્રત્યેનો પ્રેમ જોવો હોય તો પૂર્ણરૂપે ખીલેલા પુષ્પ ને જુઓ., ખળખળ વહેતી નદી ને જુઓ, સવાર ના ઉગતા સુર્ય ને વધામણી આપતા પંખીઓના કલરવ ને સાંભળો..... આ બધામાં તમને ઈશ્વરનો પ્રેમ જ છલકાતો દેખાશે.


એક વ્યક્તિ સ્વામી રમણ પાસે ગયો અને કહ્યું કે મને બ્રમ્હજ્ઞાન આપો, મેં ૨૫ વર્ષ સુધી બ્રમચર્ય નું પાલન કર્યું છે, વેદો ને ઉપનીષદો નું અધ્યયન કર્યું છે. પરન્તું હવે મને બ્રમ્હજ્ઞાન મેળવવાની ઈચ્છા છે. સ્વામી રમણે કહ્યું કે એ બધું તો ઠીક પણ તે કદી પ્રેમ કર્યો છે? પેલા ભાઈ ને થયું કે આ શું, સ્વામીજી મને બ્રમ્હજ્ઞાન આપવાને બદલે આવો અર્થ વગરનો સવાલ કેમ કરે છે? તેમણે જવાબ આપ્યો કે વિદ્યાભ્યાસ દરમ્યાન મને પ્રેમ જેવી મામુલી ચીજ માટે સમય જ ન હતો અને અત્યારે હું અહિયા બ્રમ્હજ્ઞાન મેળવવા આવ્યો છું માટે તમે મને તેની વાત કરો, આ પ્રેમ ની ચર્ચા અત્યારે અસ્થાને છે. રમણ ને આ જવાબ થી સંતોષ ના થયો એટલે એણે ફરી પૂછ્યું, કે તે કદી પ્રેમ નથી કર્યો, માતા સાથે પ્રેમ, ભાઈ ભાંડું સાથે પ્રેમ કે પ્રેમિકા સાથે પ્રેમ.... પેલા ભાઈએ નકાર માં માથું ધુણાવ્યું. આ જોઈ સ્વામી રમણ બહુ દુખી થયા અને કહ્યું કે ભાઈ તો તો હું તને કશી મદદ ના કરી શકીશ. તે માનવસર્જિત તમામ જ્ઞાન તો અવશ્ય મેળવ્યું પણ ઈશ્વર સર્જિત પ્રેમ ને કડી અનુભવ્યો જ નથી માટે બ્રમ્હજ્ઞાન તો બહુ દુર ની વાત છે.


પ્રેમ ની મહાનતા ને શબ્દો માં કે પુસ્તક માં તો વર્ણવી શકાય જ નહિ. એ તો એક અદ્વિતીય અનુભૂતિ છે જેની ચરમસીમાએ સર્જન ના તમામ દ્વાર ખુલી જાય છે. પ્રેમ ની પરાકાષ્ઠા એ જ સર્જન ની શરૂઆત છે. મોટાભાગ ના ધર્મગ્રંથો ના નિયમો પ્રેમ ની વિરુદ્ધ છે અને કદાચ એ માનસિકતાને કારણે જ Valantine Day જેવા પ્રેમ ના ઉત્સવો નો વિરોધ પણ એટલોજ થઇ રહ્યો છે.


એકવાર એક ક્લાસ માં ટીચરે પૂછ્યું કે પ્રેમ એટલે શું? એક સાતમાં ધોરણ માં ભણતી એક દીકરી આગળ આવી અને બહુ સરસ જવાબ આપ્યો કે મારા દાદી ને સાંધાની બીમારી છે. ૭૦ વર્ષ ની ઉમરે મારા દાદા દર રવિવારે મારી દાદી ને પગ ના નખ રંગી આપે છે. મારા હિસાબે તો આજ પ્રેમ છે.


પ્રેમ શબ્દો નો કે બાહ્યસુંદરતા નો કે પૈસા થી આકર્ષતો નથી. એ તો એક અનુભૂતિ છે, જીવનભર સાથે રહેવાની, ન બોલાયેલા શબ્દો ને પણ સમજવાની, એકબીજાને હુંફ આપવાની અને આનંદ ની અનુભૂતિ કરવાની. I Love You એ ત્રણ શબ્દો સાથે ઈશ્વરનું પ્રેમ રૂપી વરદાન જોડાયેલું છે. પ્રેમ એ આ સમગ્ર સૃષ્ટિ નો આધાર છે. આ સૃષ્ટિ માંથી પ્રેમ ની બાદબાકી એ સમગ્ર સૃષ્ટિની બાદબાકી બરાબર છે. પ્રેમ કરો તો પ્રેમથી કરો, EGO કે કૈક મળવવાની વૃતિ થી નહિ.


કોઈક ને થાય કે પ્રેમ ની મહત્તમ ઊંચાઈ શું? What is the Ultimate Hight of the Love? કોઈ કોને કેટલો પ્રેમ કરે છે તે માપી શકાય? How much do you love me.... is it measurable? આ પ્રશ્ન એવો છે કે પૃથ્વી નો છેડો કયો? જો પ્રેમ ને માપવા જશો તો તે પ્રેમ મટી કોઈ વસ્તુ બની જશે, જેની Expiry Date પણ છે, અને ત્યારે તમે તેને માપી પણ શકશો. જેમ ઈશ્વર તેનામાજ સંપૂર્ણ છે તેમ પ્રેમ પણ તેનામાંજ સંપૂર્ણ છે. પ્રેમ ના માપદંડો ના હોય. હું તને ખુબજ પ્રેમ કરું છું તેમ કહેવાને બદલે હું તને પ્રેમ કરું છું તેમ કહેવું જ કાફી છે........... જો બંને પક્ષે એટલી સમજદારી હોય તો.


એક વખત એક દવાખાના માં એક કાકા ડોક્ટર ની રાહ જોતા હતા. થોડીથોડી વારે કાકા ઘડિયાળ જુએ અને આમતેમ આટા મારે. આખરે અડધી કલાકે ડોક્ટર આવ્યા. કાકા ડોક્ટરની ચેમ્બર માં સીધા ઘુસી જ ગયા અને કહ્યું કે મને જલ્દીથી ડ્રેસિંગ કરી આપો મારે મોડું થઇ ગયું છે, મારે જવાનું છે ને મારી પત્ની સાથે ચા પીવાની છે. ડોક્ટર ને થયું કે ૭૦ વર્ષ ની ઉમરે આ કાકા નું ચસકી ગયું લાગે છે. ડોક્ટરે ફટાફટ ડ્રેસિંગ કર્યું. આખરે ડોક્ટર થી રહેવાણુ નહિ એટલે પૂછી જ લીધું, "કાકા ! આ ઉમરે પણ રોજ કાકી સાથે ચા પીવો છો?. કાકાએ જવાબ આપ્યો, "ના ભાઈ ના, મારી પત્ની છેલ્લા ૮ વર્ષ થી મેન્ટલ હોસ્પિટલ માં છે. એ કોઈને ઓળખતી નથી. દર અઠવાડીએ એક વાર મને તેને મળવા દેવામાં આવે છે. આજે મારો મળવાનો વારો છે, અને ઘરે થી હું મારા હાથે ચા બનાવી તેના માટે લઇ જાવ છું." ડોક્ટરે પૂછ્યું, "કાકા, તમારી પત્ની તમને ઓળખી શક્તિ નથી છતાં પણ તમે આટલી આતુરતા થી તેને મળવા જાવ છો?" આ સાંભળી કાકા બે મીનીટ ચુપ રહ્યા, આંખો ભીની થઇ ગઈ. ધીમે રહીને ડોક્ટરની સામે જોઈ ને કહ્યું, "બેટા, હું તો તેને ઓળખું છુ ને. "


આ છે સાચો પ્રેમ, જેની કોઈ સીમાં નથી, એ તો આ વીરાટ બ્રમ્હાંડરૂપી અનુભૂતિ છે, જેનું માપ લેવું અશક્ય છે. એટલેજ તો કહે છે ને કે ઢાઈ અક્ષર પ્રેમ કા પઢે તો પંડિત હોઈ.....


A VERY HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

એક વખત હું ફરતા ફરતા એક Under Construction મંદિર પાસે પહોંચ્યો. જોયું તો એક મૂર્તિકાર મૂર્તિ બનાવતો હતો. હું તેને જોવા લાગ્યો. પણ આ શું મૂર્તિકાર જે મૂર્તિ બનાવતો હતો તદ્દન તેવી જ એક મૂર્તિ તો તેની બાજુમાંજ પડી હતી. આ જોઈ મને થોડી આશ્ચર્ય થયુ. મેં પેલા મૂર્તિકાર ને પૂછ્યું કે ભાઈ તું એકજ ભગવાન ની બે મૂર્તિ બનાવે છે કે શું? મૂર્તિકારે જવાબ આપ્યો "ના, મારે તો ફક્ત એક જ મૂર્તિ બનાવવાની છે. પેલી મૂર્તિ તો પૂરી થવામાં જ હતી ત્યાં તે થોડી ખરાબ થઇ ગઈ."


હું તે મૂર્તિ પાસે ગયો. મને થયું કે જોવા તો દે આ મૂર્તિ માં શું ખરાબી છે? લગભગ અડધો કલાકના મથામણના અંતે મને તો તે મૂર્તિ માં કોઈ ખરાબી દેખાઈ જ નહિ. એટલે મેં મૂર્તિકાર ને પૂછ્યું કે ભાઈ આ મૂર્તિ માં એવી તો શું ખરાબી છે કે તું ફરી પછી મહેનત કરી ને બીજી મૂર્તિ બતાવવા લાગ્યો? તે મૂર્તિકારે કહ્યું કે તેના નાક પાસે એક નાનકડો કાપો પડી ગયો છે.હું વિચાર માં પડી ગયો. મેં બારીકી થી નિરીક્ષણ કર્યું છતાં પણ મને કઈ દેખાયું નહિ અને આ મૂર્તિકાર કહે છે કે નાક પાસે એક નાનકડો કાપો છે એટલે એ બીજી મૂર્તિ બનાવવા લાગી ગયો. આખરે તો હું વાણીયો ને એટલે મેં તે મૂર્તિકાર ને પૂછ્યું, "તારે આ મૂર્તિ ક્યાં ગોઠવવાની છે?" મૂર્તિકારે કહ્યું કે પેલા વીસ ફુટ ઉંચા પીલર પર. મેં કહ્યું કે ભાઈ મને બે ફુટ દુરથી આ નાક પાસે નો કાપો દેખાયો નહિ તો બીજા લોકો ને વીસ ફુટ દુરથી ક્યાં દેખાવાનો છે. કોને ખબર પડવાની છે કે ત્યાં નાક પાસે કાપો છે. આ સાંભળી મૂર્તિકારે મારી સામે જોયું અને આંખોમાં એક અજબ સી ચમક સાથે કહ્યું, "મને તો ખબર છે ને."


Excellence does not require audit, feedback or comments from others. શ્રેષ્ઠતા નું સાચું પરિમાણ તો તમારું મન જ છે. તેને અન્યના આધાર ની જરૂર નથી. એક રીતે જોવા જઈએ તો મૂર્તિકારને વ્યવ્હારું ના ગણતા જીદ્દી કહી શકો પરંતુ શ્રેષ્ઠતા એ જીદ્દી લોકો ની જ નિશાની છે. ગાંધીજી જીદ્ધી હતા એટલેજ શ્રેષ્ઠ હતા. દાંડીયાત્રા વખતે તે બધાના મંતવ્યો માંગવા નહોતા ગયા. મેં તો અકેલા ચલા થા, કાંરવા બનતા ગયા એમ એ તો નીકળી પડ્યા. તેમણે એટલું જ જોયું કે તેમની યાત્રા નું પરિણામ પ્રજા માટે શ્રેષ્ઠ છે.


આપણે ઘણી વખત આપણા કરતા બીજા ના આપણા કામ પ્રત્યેના મંતવ્યો પર આધાર રાખીએ છીએ. લોકો ને કેવું લાગશે? લોકો આ ઘટના ને કેવી રીતે જોશે? તેઓ મારા વખાણ કરશે કે નિંદા? આવું કદાચ તમે વિચારતા હો તો એમાં તમારો વાંક નથી. નાનપણ થી જ તમારું એક Programming કરવામાં આવ્યુ છે, ભણતા હતા ત્યારે શિક્ષકોના મંતવ્યો, ઘરમાં મોટેરાઓ ના મંતવ્યો, દોસ્તો ના મંતવ્યો, સહકર્મચારીઓ ના મંતવ્યો, બોસ ના મંતવ્યો, સંતાનો ના મંતવ્યો, પત્ની ના મંતવ્યો, સગા સંબંધીઓં ના મંતવ્યો અને આ મંતવ્યો ની વચ્ચે રહેતા રહેતા તમને તમારા પોતાના મંતવ્યો નો આવાજ દાબીજ દીધો છે. આજે પ્રતિજ્ઞા કરો કે દરેક કાર્ય નું જયારે અવલોકન કરવાનું હોય ત્યારે સૌપ્રથમ તમે તમારા મન નો આવાજ સાંભળશો.


જીવન માં જયારે પણ નિર્ણય કરવામાં, હા કે ના માં દ્વિધા અનુભવો ત્યારે ખીસ્સામાંથી એક સિક્કો કાઢી ને Toss કરો. એટલા માટે નહિ કે તે તમને નિર્ણય કરવામાં મદદ કરે, પરંતુ એટલા માટે કે જે સમય દરમ્યાન કિંગ છે કે ક્રોસ્સ એ ખબર નથી તે સમયગાળા દરમ્યાન તમને તમારા હૃદય નો અવાજ સંભાળવાનો મોકો મળશે. તમને એ ખબર પડશે કે તમારું મન શું ઈચ્છે છે.

આજના ફાસ્ટ યુગમાં યુવાનો એક તરફ પોતાની ફરજો ચુકી પોતાના મા-બાપને તરછોડી તેમને એકલવાયુ જીવન જીવવા વૃધ્ધાશ્રમમાં ધકેલી દેતા હોવાના દાખલા આપણે જોયા છે.જે મા બાપએ પોતાના છોકરાને ઉછેરવા પોતાની ઈચ્છાઓનું ખૂણ કરી બાળકોને સક્ય હોય તેટલી સવલતો આપવામાં પાછીપાણી નથી કરી તેવા મા-બાપને પોતાના જીવનનાં છેલ્લા વર્ષોમાં બે ટંક ખવડાવવાનું થાય ત્યારે કેટલાક છોકરાના પેટમાં ચુક આવે છે ત્યારે આવા છોકરા પોતાના મા-બાપથી અલગ રહેવા નિકળી જતા હોય છે ,તો કેટલાક નફફટ લોકો પોતાના મા-બાપને વૃધ્ધાશ્રમમાં પણ ધકેલી દેતા શરમાતા નથી.

ત્યારે આજના આ યુગમાં પણ કેટલાય યુવાનોના મનમાં સેવાકાર્યોની ધૂન હંમેશા વગતી રહે છે તેનો ઉત્તમ દાખલો આણંદ જીલ્લાના ઉમરેઠ નગરમાં જોવા મળી રહ્યો છે.ઉમરેઠના ત્રણ યુવાનોને ચાર વર્ષ પહેલા સેવા કરવાની ધગશ થતા તેઓએ નગરના નિરાધાર વૃધ્ધોને દરોજ્જ સવારના સમયે ભોજન ઘરે બેઠા ભોજન આપવાનું શરુ કર્યુ, શરુઆતમાં તેઓએ પોતાની આ સેવા મફત આપવાનું શરુ કર્યુ પરંતુ મફતમાં ખાવાની વૃત્તિ ન ધરાવતા લોકોએ આ સેવાનો લાભ લેવાનું ટાળ્યુ જેથી આ સંસ્થા ધ્વારા રુપિયા ૨/- ના ટોકન ચાર્જથી પોતાની સેવા ચાલુ રાખી,અને ખુબજ ટુંકા ગાળામાં “જીવન આધાર સેવા સંકુલ” નામની સંસ્થા આકાર પામી,આ સંસ્થા નગરના નિરાધાર વૃધ્ધોને ઘરે બેઠા ૨/- રુપિયાના ટોકન ચાર્જથી ગરમા ગરમ ભોજન આપી આવે છે.આજે લઘભગ ૧૦૩ જેટલા નિરાધાર વૃધ્ધો આ સંસ્થાનો લાભ લઈ રહ્યા છે,જ્યારે ભોજન સરસ બને તે માટે સંસ્થા ચલાવતા ત્રણ યુવાનો અનિલભાઈ દેસાઈ,હરિવદનભાઈ શાહ તેમજ હસમુખભાઈ શાહ વારાફરથી સંસ્થાની અવાર નવાર પ્રત્યક્ષ મુલાકાત પણ કરે છે અને સંસ્થાના કર્મચારીઓના કાર્ય ઉપર દેખરેખ રાખે છે.

સંસ્થાના રસોઈયા ધ્વારા બનતુ ભોજન વૃધ્ધોને સવારે ઘરે બેઠા મળે તે માટે સંસ્થા ધ્વારા ત્રણ માણસો રાખવામાં આવ્યા છે.જે નગરના જુદા જુદા વિસ્તારમાં ફરી વૃધ્ધોને ઘરે જઈને ભોજન આપી દેતા હોય છે.જ્યારે કોઈ કર્મચારી કોઈ કારણથી આવી ન શકે ત્યારે અન્ય કર્મચારી તેઓના વિસ્તારમાં જઈ વૃધ્ધોને ત્યાં ભોજન આપી આવે છે.નગરમાં ત્રણ યુવાનો ધ્વારા થતા આ કાર્યની પ્રસંસા થઈ રહી છે,ત્યારે હાલમાં આ સંસ્થએ પાંચ વર્ષ સફળતાથી પુર્ણ કર્યા છે.

સંસ્થા ચાલુ થઈ ત્યારે આર્થિક મુશ્કેલીઓનો સામનો કરવાનો વારો આવ્યો હતો ત્યારે આ ત્રણ યુવાનોએ નગરના અન્ય સેવાભાવી લોકો પાસેથી ફાળો લઈ સંસ્થામાં પ્રાણપુરી પોતાની સેવાકિય પ્રવૃતિઓ ચાલુ રાખી હતી જ્યારે હાલમાં હવે સામેથી લોકો આવી પોતાના સ્વજનની વર્ષગાંઠ કે પછી અન્ય દિવસની તિથિ લખાવી જે તે દિવસનો ખર્ચો પોતાને માથે લઈ જતા હોય છે.હાલમાં સંસ્થા ધ્વારા ૧૦૦ થી પણ વધુ લોકોને ઘરે બેઠા ભાવતા ભોજણ પીરસવામાં આવે છે.જ્યારે આ સંસ્થાની સેવા લેતા વૃધ્ધો પણ આ ભગીરથ કાર્યથી ખુબ ખુશ છે અને આવા કાર્યને તેઓ બિરદાવી રહ્યા છે.

मन्त्र mantra (chant): ॐ ब्रह्मणे स्वाहा ॥ इदं परमात्मने न मम ॥
OM brahmaNe svaahaa | idam paramaatmane na mama | (OM, offering great fire. This is for Lord of Lords, not for me.)

Person who does these six offerings everyday is eligible to be like ब्रह्म brahman. Here, all the five praaNa (special bodily forces) such as praaNa, udaana, vyaana, apaana, samaana are considered as being offered to Mother Kundalini.

Explanation of some of the words:

1)अरणीकाष्ठ araNikaaShTh
piece of wood of the Shami tree used to kindle the sacrificial fire by attrition

2) होता hotaa
sacrificial priest, esp. the one who recites prayers from the Rigveda at a sacrifice; sacrifice; who
offers oblations.

3) उदगाता udgaataa
priest who sings chants from saamaveda with louder voice

4) अध्वर्यु adhvaryu
priest who knows and uses yajurveda and who measures land, builds altar, brings all necessarry things and offers

5) ब्रह्मा brahmaa
priest who knows all 4 vedas and who monitors all activities in the ceremony

5) आग्निध्र aagnidhra
Place for altar or offering to fire

6) दर्भ् darbh
a type of grass. It is very sharp at both ends of leaves.

7) गार्हपत्य gaarhapatya
Household fire

आह्वनिय aahvaniya
Fire to the east side of host

9) दक्षिणाग्नि dakshiNaagni
Fire to the south side of host, also fire during marriage ceremony

10) आवसथ्याग्नि aavasathyaagni
Fire which stays at home

11) प्राण praaNaa
Air of breathing

12) अपान apaana
Air that goes out thru’ anal/rectum

13) व्यान vyaana
Air that circulates blood

14) उदान udaana
Air that takes soul and food upwards. Also for sneezing for joints

15) समान samaana
Air that circulates elements from food equally thru’out body

A professor began his class by holding up a glass with some water in it.


He held it up for all to see; asked the students,' How much do you think this glass weighs?'


'50gms!' .... '100gms!' ......'125gms' ......the students answered.


'I really don't know unless I weigh it,' said the professor,'but, my question is: What would happen if I held it up like this for a few minutes?'


'Nothing' the students said.

'Ok what would happen if I held it up like this for an hour?' the professor asked.


'Your arm would begin to ache' said one of the students.


'You're right, now what would happen if I held it for a day?'


'Your arm could go numb, you might have severe muscle stress; paralysis;


Have to go to hospital for sure!'ventured another student; all the students laughed.


'Very good. But during all this, did the weight of the glass change?' asked


The professor. 'No' the students said.


Then what caused the arm ache & the muscle stress?'


The students were puzzled.


'Put the glass down!' said one of the students.


'Exactly!' said the professor.' Life's problems are something like this.


Hold it for a few minutes in your head; they seem OK.


Think of them for a long time & they begin to ache. Hold it even longer & they begin to paralyze you. You will not be able to do anything.


It's important to think of the challenges (problems) in your life, but


EVEN MORE IMPORTANT to 'put them down' at the end of every day before you go to sleep.


That way, you are not stressed, you wake up every day fresh & strong & can handle any issue, any challenge that comes your way!'

An atheist Professor of Philosophy was speaking to his class on the problem Science has with GOD, the ALMIGHTY. He asked one of his new Christian Students to stand and . . .

Professor: You are Christian, aren't you, son?
Student: Yes, sir.
Professor: So, you believe in GOD.
Student: Absolutely, sir.
Professor: Is GOD Good?
Student: Sure.
Professor: Is GOD ALL - POWERFUL?
Student: Yes.
Professor: My Brother died of Cancer even though he prayed to GOD to heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But GOD didn't. How is this GOD good then? Hmm?

(Student was silent)

Professor: You can't answer, can you? Let's start again, Young Fella. Is GOD Good?
Student: Yes.
Professor: Is Satan good?
Student: No.
Professor: Where does Satan come from?
Student: From . . . GOD . . .
Professor: That's right. Tell me son, is there evil in this World?
Student: Yes.
Professor: Evil is everywhere, isn't it? And GOD did make everything. Correct?
Student: Yes.
Professor: So who created evil?

Professor: Is there Sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things exist in the World, don't they?
Student: Yes, sir.
Professor: So, who created them?



(Student had no answer)



Professor: Science says you have five Senses you use to Identify and Observe the World around you. Tell me, son. . Have you ever Seen GOD?
Student: No, sir.
Professor: Tell us if you have ever heard your GOD?
Student: No, sir.
Professor: Have you ever felt your GOD, Tasted your GOD, Smelt your GOD? Have you ever had any Sensory Perception of GOD for that matter?
Student: No, sir. I'm afraid I haven't.
Professor: Yet you still believe in HIM?
Student: Yes.
Professor: According to Empirical, Testable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says your GOD doesn't exist. What do you say to that, son?
Student: Nothing. I only have my Faith.
Professor: Yes, Faith. And that is the Problem Science has.




Student: Professor, is there such a thing as Heat?
Professor: Yes.
Student: And is there such a thing as Cold?
Professor: Yes.
Student: No, sir. There isn't.

Student: Sir, you can have Lots of Heat, even More Heat, Superheat, Mega Heat, White Heat, Little Heat, or No Heat. But we don't have anything called Cold. We can hit 458 Degrees below Zero, which is No Heat, but we can't go any further after that. There is no such thing as Cold. Cold is only a Word we use to describe the Absence of Heat. We cannot Measure Cold. Heat is Energy. Cold is Not the Opposite of Heat, sir, just the Absence of it.

Student: What about Darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as Darkness?
Professor: Yes. What is Night if there isn't Darkness?



Student: You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is the Absence of Something You can have Low Light, Normal Light, Bright Light, Flashing Light . . . But if you have No Light constantly, you have nothing and it's called Darkness, isn't it? In reality, Darkness isn't. If it is, were you would be able to make Darkness darker, wouldn't you?



Professor: So what is the point you are making, Young Man?
Student: Sir, my point is your Philosophical Premise is flawed.
Professor: Flawed? Can you explain how?



Student: Sir, you are working on the Premise of Duality. You argue there is Life and then there is Death, a Good GOD, and a Bad GOD. You are viewing the Concept of GOD as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, Science can't even explain a Thought. It uses Electricity and Magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view Death as the Opposite of Life is to be ignorant of the fact that Death cannot exist as a Substantive Thing. Death is Not the Opposite of Life: just the Absence of it. Now tell me, Professor, do you teach your Students that they evolved from a Monkey?



Professor: If you are referring to the Natural Evolutionary Process, yes, of course, I do.
Student : Have you ever observed Evolution with your own eyes, sir?



(The Professor shook his head with a Smile, beginning to realize where the Argument was going)



Student: Since no one has ever observed the Process of Evolution at work and cannot even prove that this Process is an On-Going Endeavor, Are you not teaching your Opinion, sir? Are you not a Scientist but a Preacher?



(The Class was in Uproar)


Student: Is there anyone in the Class who has ever seen the Professor's Brain?


(The Class broke out into Laughter)


Student: Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor's Brain, Felt it, touched, or Smelt it? No one appears to have done so. So, according to the Established Rules of Empirical, Stable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says that you have No Brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your Lectures, sir?

A spate of gun and bomb attacks seen as a response to the Pakistan Army's offensive in South Waziristan has sent jitters across Pakistan, including in the normally peaceful capital Islamabad. Taliban militants have unleashed a guerrilla war in cities across the country, killing about 250 people in recent weeks, in what are believed to be retaliatory strikes against an Army offensive in their South Waziristan stronghold in Pakistan's northwest.

The diabetes bomb is ticking in India and experts say massive awareness campaigns should be launched by both government and educational institutions. Healthy eating habits should be taught from childhood to curb the growing threat of the lifestyle disease that has already impacted 50 million people in the country. As per fourth edition of the World Diabetes

Atlas, by 2010 about 50.8 million Indians in the 20-79 age group will have diabetes, rising to 87 million by 2030 - the highest in the world.

British MP Keith Vaz has warned that India would be the world capital for diabetes if measures were not taken to prevent the disease.

The confidence level of India Inc is on the rise, as it is clear that India, like the rest of the world, is slowly emerging out of the recession. Jobs are back and India Inc is witnessing an upsurge of 15 percent in hiring trend, thanks to the improving economic climate. Eighty per cent of the companies believe that the Indian economy is on the road to recovery, says experts.

Banker of the banks, World Bank, extended its support to India by approving loans worth $4.3 billion. The loans would enable financing infrastructure development in the country and in supporting some of the state-run banks, as the Indian economy revives from the global meltdown.

India needs to take immediate steps to ensure that it is in a position to host the 2010 Commonwealth Games, a BBC report quotes Indian Olympics Association secretary general, Randhir Singh. He said that some of the concerns raised by Commonwealth Games Federation chief Mike Fennell over the progress of preparation were valid. In a letter to the local organising committee Fennell has warned that Indian plans were severely behind schedule. There are also concerns over security arrangements and housing for guests.

A union government report a few months ago found that work on 13 out of the 19 sports venues were running behind schedule.

Do you support Fennell's concerns that current situation poses a serious risk to the Commonwealth Games in 2010?

With 10 deaths reported so far, India is in the grip of the swine flu fear factor. At times like these, what is of utmost importance is proper information to dispel panic reaction. With some people covering their faces with handkerchiefs, dupattas or masks, the fear of swine flu was clear in buses, trains and in public places in many cities.

Swine flu is a respiratory disease which infects pigs. It caused by a strain of the influenza virus known as H1N1. Although the strain may have originated in pigs, it is now a wholly human disease and is being transmitted person-to-person. Human to human transmission of swine flu thought to spread in the same way as seasonal flu – through coughing and sneezing.

Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad insisted that the situation was under control, government has sufficient stock of Tamiflu and the toll far less as compared with other affected countries in West.

Health care was one of the chief issues in the 2008 US Presidential election. Barack Obama is now president. He has promised an overhaul healthcare system reform in the country, which is aimed at curbing rapidly rising costs and expanding health insurance coverage to the 46 million uninsured Americans. His healthcare plan has been a hotly debated topic. Proponents argue that health coverage should be available to all. The healthcare policy reform proposal will include a government-run insurance option in the country's healthcare system.

While opponents say that Obama plan is about health insurance, not health care. It’s being fought by greedy private insurance companies, by chambers of commerce, by Republican and some Democratic lawmakers.

Do you think that many Americans would favor the government-run health care plan?

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin called Obama's health plan is 'downright evil' as it will only help a few people and hurt a lot of poeple. Do you agree?

In their latest issue, Newsweek magazine claims, “the recession is over, now what we need is a new kind of recovery.” However, dozens of experts have spoken out disagreeing with the publication and even President Obama expressed that he disagreed with the publication’s claims. Obama was certainly not buying into any early optimism.

‘‘I don’t know whether you’ve seen the cover of the latest Newsweek magazine on the rack at the grocery store, but the cover says ‘the recession is over’,’’ he said, prompting chuckles. ‘‘I imagine you might have found that news a little startling. I know I did.’’

Main point of the story is that the worst part of the recession might be over technically, but that the country still has a long way to go.

Do you believe that the US recession is over?

The magazine's assertion that the recession is over was mostly an attention grabber. Do you think so?

The ongoing row between India's private airlines and the government over a bailout package is getting bigger day by day, thanks to the high operating costs and a fall in demand due to the global economic slowdown that have hit the industry. India's private airlines including five leading operators - Kingfisher, Jet Airways, Jetlite, Spice Jet and Indigo carry about 83 percent of the country's 11 million air passengers. The private airline operators want cheaper aviation fuel and reduction in airport charges.

However, the Indian Civil Aviation Ministry is refusing to relent to the demands. Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel has declined government help to bail out the private airlines. He said there is no question of a financial bailout for private airlines as we are is not even bailing out Air India, which is owned by the government.

Do you support the government's tough talking?

The private airline operators should check their costing and pricing policy rather than asking for bailout. Do you agree?

From increase in tax exemptions for the senior citizen and axing the fringe benefit taxes to, no change in corporate taxes and personal income tax exemption hiked by Rs 10,000, the Budget 2009-10, presented by Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee sounds like a bag of goodies for the common man.

Like that, Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee also proposed not to increase in passenger fares or freight tariff in Rail Budget for 2009-10. Banerjee's railway budget is targeted to provide a dignified journey to each and every traveller. Despite all the good provision made in that directions, there are several issues that still need to be voiced.

Is the union budget a disappointment for markets because of no policy pronouncements whatsoever?

No change in fare in this railway budget. Is this the budget you wanted?

Whatever happens, its not only govt., social activists's job...its everyone's responsibility that we must stop actions against innocent tribal brothers and sisters. They enter their houses, late at night, drag people out, beat them to find ind information about Maoists. They urinate on drinking water vessels, other threat them of life. Lalgarh issue has taken a serious turn in West Bengal as the government has asked Maoists to lay down arms or face action. Lalgarh and adjoining areas came under siege by Maoists and armed tribals five days ago and they are prepared to fight the security forces by forming three layers of defence. The tribals under the People’s Committee Against Police Atrocities blocked passage to Lalgarh by felling trees and digging up roads and blowing up a bridge at Binpur, 12 km from Lalgarh.

Union home minister P Chidambaram has asked Maoists to lay down arms and come for talks supporting an appeal made by West Bengal Chief Minister Bhuddhadeb Bhattacharjee.

Swine influenza (also called swine flu, hog flu, and pig flu) is an infection of a host animal by any one of several specific types of microscopic organisms called "swine influenza virus". In 2009 the media labeled as "swine flu" flu caused by 2009's new strain of swine-origin A/H1N1 pandemic virus just as it had earlier dubbed as "avian flu" flu caused by the recent Asian-linage HPAI (High Pathogenic Avian Influenza) H5N1 strain that is still endemic in many wild bird species in several countries.

If the ruling party is so keen to uplift downtrodden women, it should first think of the likes of Sukka Pagadaalu (picture below), who at 64 is the same age as Meira Kumar. For those of you who came in late, she’s a tribal woman and was an MLA of the ruling party in Andhra Pradesh in the late 1970s. But now she is a daily wage labourer earning Rs 60 per day. Her husband is employed along with her as a construction labourer in the remote Srikakulam district. She gets an MLA’s pension but to make both ends meet she has to do a labourer’s job in her village, far away from what is called “civilization”.

UPA government has adopted an ambitious target of making India slum-free in five years with President Pratibha Patil announcing the launch of a special housing scheme for urban poor and slum-dwellers. The President has claimed that her government's effort will be to create a slum free India in five years through the Rajiv Awas Yojana. Sources say if 10,000 people live in a 100-acre slum or illegal colony, around 50 acres will be used to relocate them to new houses. The rest of the land is likely to be used for commercial or even high-end residential development. The government may use this access to cheap land as an incentive to get private players on board as partners. Housing units under this scheme should cost between Rs 5 to 7 lakh, and will boast a minimum carpet area of 250 square feet.

If the Manmohan Singh government's ambitious plan for a "slum free" India, becomes a reality some 62 million-plus people living in the country's urban shanties will have a home of their own.

Do you appreciate govt's plan? How it can work?
